Three Cafecito Stops in Miami
Miami is a city shaped by coffee.
From the ventanitas that punctuate our neighborhoods to a new generation of independent cafés and coffee trucks, cafecito remains one of the simplest—and most enduring—rituals of the city.
These are five places I find myself returning to. Not a ranking, simply a collection of favorites worth knowing.
01 — Lucky Coffee
Two sisters. One traveling coffee bar.
Founded by two Miami sisters, Lucky Coffee brings a thoughtful approach to the city’s growing specialty coffee scene. The mobile concept moves throughout Miami, serving coffee made with an emphasis on simple, considered ingredients.
Many of the syrups are prepared in-house, without artificial sweeteners—a small detail that makes a noticeable difference.
As a coffee truck, its location changes throughout the week. Their Instagram is the best place to find the next stop.

02 — Ricky’s in Miami
A husband-and-wife operation with a personal touch.
Behind Ricky’s in Miami are Nathalie and Ricky, the husband-and-wife team responsible for this local coffee and food truck.
Their drinks have the kind of details I appreciate: the vanilla syrup, for example, is made in-house and deliberately restrained in sweetness, allowing the espresso to remain at the center of the drink.
Ricky’s is currently parked at the University of Miami Monday through Thursday and is open to the public—you don’t need to be a student to visit.

03 — La Colada Gourmet
Cuban coffee, approached with intention.
La Colada Gourmet takes one of Miami’s most familiar rituals and gives it a distinctly considered setting.
Coffee is roasted in-house, and bags of their roast are available to take home—a detail that speaks to how seriously they approach what goes into each cup.
The menu extends beyond coffee, with Cuban dishes that remain connected to the flavors and traditions that inspired them.
